Introducing JP Paul's upcoming major series for 2024, titled "Challenging Perceptions". The complex mixed media works came to life after revisiting an earlier body of work created years ago. Made in his current SE Asia studio, the large-format, hybrid analog-digital paintings feature Paul's signature textural treatments, acrylic painting, acrylic pen drawing, screen-printing, direct-printing, image transfers, and thin color washes to enrich the layered works.
See a sampling of JP Paul's long-anticipated Habitat series, work originally envisioned through a collaboration with renowned painter, Carlos Perez-Franco, and alternative process specialist, JP Paul. The large-scale works (some over 2 meters long) feature several interesting methods and techniques.
Damien Pent discusses JP Paul's recent series of action/process paintings with the author. The deeply textured acrylic works feature intricate patterns and markings on large, recycled canvasses. Made entirely in his SE Asia studio, Paul hopes to find a regional gallery interested in marketing the series locally.
Shawn Sebastian's contemporary naif works in a deskilled neo-expressionist style feature bold palettes, minimalized forms and symbols, and catchy slogans representing the younger generation's direct approach to discourse about critical social and environmental concerns.
